1. Dyson Ball Allergy

The Dyson Ball Allergy is the current king of the jungle when it comes to the best vacuum cleaners on the market today. It gets top scores for convenience, cleaning power and has all the bells, whistles and tools to keep you home sparkling clean.

We actually prefer it vs the more expensive Dyson Cinetic because it gets much better reviews from people who have used and/or owned both.

This one truly does have the strongest suction of any vacuum. In fact, the Cynetic has only 180 air watts of power while the less expensive Ball Allergy has 270 air watts. This one also incorporates the Dyson self-adjusting cleaner head so you don’t have to change any settings when going from hardwood or bare floors to carpet or to carpeting with different heights or piles.

It is also extremely efficient and effective for people with allergies or asthma as it has whole machine HEPA filtration and is certified allergy and asthma friendly.

2. Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away Speed

The Shark Powered Rotator is a good mid-priced vacuum that definitely deserves a nod. It incorporates a canister vacuum into its design so it has quite a bit of versatility. It also comes with a variety of handy attachments and tools including a car and home detail kit, which is great for getting into tiny nooks and crannies not only in your vehicle but in electronics as well.

As far as allergies, it does incorporate an anti-allergen seal into its system. It still has a decent amount of power and weighs less than the Dyson above. However, the dust bin is about half the size.

3. Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

Bissells have  long been known as workhorses on the lower price of the spectrum in this market, and this one is no exception. While it is on the heavy side, it gets major bragging rights for its tangle free brush roll that actually cuts off any hair that gets wound around the beater bar.

It comes with specialized pet tools which are great for cleaning upholstery and other furniture whether or not you have pets, and it incorporates a Febreze filter to keep you home smelling nice and fresh.

While it doesn’t have a HEPA filter, it does have a sealed allergy system – a great added benefit, especially if you have pets.

4. Shark Navigator Lift Away Professional

Much like the Shark Rotator series, the Navigator line is a very popular one and is consistently rated one of the best vacuum cleaners. The Professional Lift Away incorporates the detachable canister vacuum that is good to use on stairs or if you need to reach, and it offers the Shark 5 year warranty.

Like the Rotator, it’s lightweight, but this one has a sealed allergy system that also incorporates a HEPA filter. It also has the added benefit of coming with a dust attachment specifically designed to act as a power mop for hardwood floors. Swivel steering makes it extra easy to maneuver.

5. Hoover WindTunnel 3 Pet High Performance

The least expensive model on our list, the Hoover UH72630PC Pet is still a good value. It has a quick pass brush roll so you don’t have to go over the floor so many times to get it clean, and it has the popular wind tunnel technology which incorporates three channels of suction.

As far as tools, it comes with a pet tool, crevice tool and a dusting tool that pivots to get into hard to reach places. As far as convenience, it has the longest cord of any vacuum on our list at a whopping forty feet, meaning you’ll need to unplug and replug less often.
