1. Dyson Cinetic Animal + Allergy

As many people both with and without pet hair in the house know, Dysons are some of the top of the line when it comes to the best technology in vacuum cleaners, and the latest Cinetic Animal + Allergy is even better. It offers 180 air watts of suction power, has a cleaning head that adjusts all by itself and comes with a bunch of great tools great for removing dog and cat hair from upholstery and every other surface.

It comes with the 5 year Dyson warranty, is designed to last for 10 years and is certified by the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America, which means it removes both pet dander as well as any other particles that may make you sneeze.

It’s on the heavier end of the spectrum at just over nineteen pounds, but it’s still really easy to maneuver thanks to the ball technology. The dust cup holds a lot at just over one-half gallon, and it has an incredible reach of fifty feet.

2. Shark Rotator TruePet

While the Rotator TruePet doesn’t have nearly as many features as the Dyson Cinetic, it is still quite a workhorse with good versatility thanks largely to its incorporated canister vac. It does have a HEPA filter and a sealed allergy system and has a decent cord length of thirty feet.

It is a bit heavier than the Dyson at 20.5 pounds, but thankfully it incorporates swivel steering even though it’s a bit bulky. The reach with the hose is just over fifteen feet, and the power is decent at 1200 watts.

This Rotator gives you three options for height adjustment, so it will work for bare floors and thinner or deep pile carpet. As an added bonus, it does come with a separate hard floor duster attachment that uses a microfiber cleaning cloth to catch all the dust on your bare floors.

3. Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

Unlike its very successful predecessor, the Hair Eraser hand vacuum, this one is a full size upright that incorporates some of the beloved features of the little one in a full-sized version. Among its merits is its patented system for spooling hair so the brush roll won’t get all tangled up. An even bigger plus is the Febreze odor eliminator filter which keeps your home smelling fresh whether or not you have pets in the house.

It has a decent suction power at 8.5 amps and comes with a five year warranty. Unfortunately it only has a reach of eight feet with the hose, so while it’s not great for cleaning carpeted stairs, it does a great job on carpet.

For tools, it comes with a two in one pet brush and a crevice tool that lights up (particularly helpful to suck dirt out of those dark nooks or down beside appliances).

4. Eureka Clean Pet

The Eureka AS3401AX, also known as the Brushroll Clean Pet, gets very high ratings for the price and has some admirable features. It comes with the standard crevice and dusting tools but also a special turbo nozzle designed especially for pet hair.

One of the nicest features of this vacuum is that the brush roll won’t tangle. It does a good job on both hardwood and carpet, and it does have a washable allergy filter.

It weighs a few pounds less than the Shark and has a longer reach of twelve feet. It’s also just a bit more powerful at 12.5 amps.

5. Hoover WindTunnel 3 Pet

As far as weight, the Hoover WIndtunnel 3 High Performance Pet is right about in the middle, and it has a longer reach than most at fifteen feet. It has the same suction power vs the Eureka at 12 amps but it has seven height adjustments, which is impressive. Like the others on our best vacuums for pet hair list, it also has a five year warranty.

For tools and accessories, you get two different types of dusting brushes including one that pivots, two crevice tools (one long and one short) and a pet brush that rotates to get cat and dog hair off the furniture. For controls, one of the things users like about this vac in their reviews is that the controls are well placed and easy to access.
