1. GreenWorks Pro

The GreenWorks Pro series of mowers is by far the best cordless lawn mower option available on the market today. It’s the only one that offers 80 volts of power, double what other battery operated mowers have on board.

It comes in three different models, but the only difference in the different model numbers is what comes in the package. You can get the mower alone or with 2AH or 4AH batteries, which will run longer before recharging. With the 4AH battery, you can expect up to 60 minutes of run time, and the battery recharges in about 30 minutes, so if you need to stop for a recharge, it shouldn’t interrupt your work day too much.

The Pro series offers a brushless mower and have extended running time and better performance due to their Smart Cut technology system. A wide 21” deck made of steel offers a wide cutting path, and this mower mulches, bags or discharges grass clippings to the side if you prefer.

2. Ego Power +

The Ego Power + is a close second on our list, mostly due to its 56 volts of power. It also offers the 3 in 1 capacity of discharging clippings to the side, bagging them or mulching, and it will run up to 55 minutes with its 5AH battery (other batteries are available as well with more or less running time). It has a push button start to get it going fast every time, and it’s easy to fold up for convenient storage whether you choose the upright or 4 wheels on the ground position.

3. Black & Decker CM2040

Black and Decker makes one of the best corded electric mowers but also makes one of the best cordless mowers available. The CM2040 offers 40v of power and comes with 2 – 2Ah batteries to increase the cutting time. The cutting path is a full 20”, and it has six different settings for height ranging from 1 ½” – 4” high. It also comes with a nylon bag which holds 15 gallons of grass clippings.

4. GreenWorks GMax 25223

The 25223 from GreenWorks is another great pick and a best lawn mower even though it offers a slightly smaller cutting deck at 19”. If this deck is too small or large for you, it also comes in 16” or 20” depending on the size of your lawn and the room you have to store it. It includes two Li-Ion batteries so you’ll never get caught with a dead battery in the middle of the job, and it has seven positions for height from 1 1/8” – 3”. It works well on all types of grass.

For extra features, the GMax does have the 3-in-1 mulching, side discharge and bagging options as well as big 10” rear wheels and 7” front wheels to make steering easier, even on rough terrain.

5. Sun Joe iOn16LM

The Sun Joe iOn16LM is at the bottom of our list simply because it’s small and has a less voltage than some of the others. It still has 40v, which is more than adequate for most jobs, and the 16” deck makes it ideal for those with a small yard and limited space for storage.

It does have a powerful brushless motor which increases the efficiency of the battery, and it runs quiet. Six height positions are included from 1.18” – 3.15”, and its Energy Star certified.
